Chiropractic
Chiropractors have 5 years of university education, which focuses on understanding the function of the spine and nervous system.
The World Health Organisation defines chiropractic as "A health care profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders of the neuromusculoskeletal system and the effects of these disorders on general health. There is an emphasis on manual techniques, including joint adjustment and/or manipulation with a particular focus on subluxations."
Our philosophy is based on the following common sense principles. They serve as our guide as we assess your health and make specific care recommendations:
Being healthy is your normal state
Stress (both physical and emotional) can overload your body and nervous system
Spinal dysfunction is usually the result of a "stressed" body resulting in poor function and pain
Adjustments may help reduce spinal dysfunction
Podiatry
Podiatry is the health profession dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation
of medical conditions of the feet and lower limbs. These may include skin and nail problems, foot
and ankle injuries, foot complications related to diabetes and other medical conditions and problems
with gait or walking. Podiatrists play an important role in monitoring disease and managing lower
limb issues to maintain an active, mobile and functional population across the lifespan. Therefore
patient demographics can be diverse ranging from monitoring children’s growth and development,
managing sports injuries, working with people with disease, disability and the aging population
Massage Therapy
Remedial massage treats many musculoskeletal dysfunctions, while assessing and treating postural imbalances, relaxing muscle and lengthening connective tissue. Massage may also reduce chronic pain and assist in stress management.
The aim of a treatment is to assist with the body's innate ability to restore itself and speed up the body's own repair mechanisms to achieve homeostasis. The process of a remedial massage removes blockages and assists elimination of toxins from within the body. It improves recovery time after injury and encourages complete healing.
Exercise Physiology
Our accredited Exercise Physiologist, Nick Laverty, is here to assess, design, monitor and evaluate safe and effective exercise and lifestyle interventions for your needs. He is here to help you achieve your goals whether they are for health, rehabilitation, sport performance or lifestyle changes. The initial assessment will help determine your health status and exercise/physical activity history. This will allow Nick to develop your health and performance goals. He will also discuss and develop a plan to help you achieve these goals. Your A.E.P. will give you detailed instructions on how to complete the specifically designed exercise program for your needs. This will include the discussion on the role of the exercise and how to achieve good technique. Ongoing assessment of your program will help monitor and assess your progress in achieving the established goals. We recommend you wear comfortable clothing that will allow you to move and exercise freely for your appointment.
Counselling / Psychology / Mental Health
Counselling is a service sought by people who are looking to find some answers, resolutions or a greater understanding of thoughts, feelings and behaviours that are of concern to them. These concerns come in many different forms, often perceived as problems or challenges that are limiting one’s ability to live life the way one wishes. They may be described as mental health problems or mental illness or come in the form of relationship issues. These concerns may also include people's aspirations towards a greater sense of wellbeing or be focused on increasing satisfaction in a specific area of one’s life. Counselling can be brief and focused on specific solutions or longer in duration and cover a broad range of presenting issues.
